Mitch Doherty, currently completing his Certificate III in Water Treatment with Greater Western Water between the Woodend, Romsey and Gisborne plants. Mitch continues to be an outstanding asset to both Yambuk and the broader organisation. His dedication to learning, growing, and contributing meaningfully to the community reflects the values that Yambuk aims to support, particularly through its commitment to creating pathways for local talent, including through Aboriginal labour hire initiatives. Mitch’s progress is a strong example of how young workers can thrive when given the opportunity, guidance, and hands-on experience within the water treatment sector.
By the time Mitch completes his course at the end of 2025, he will be fully qualified to work in any Water Corporation across the state, opening doors to a long and rewarding career. His journey demonstrates the impact of strong community partnerships and the importance of encouraging Indigenous participation in essential services such as water treatment.
Well done, Mitch—your commitment, dedication, and passion has brought you this far, and Yambuk is incredibly proud of your achievements. You are helping to set a clear path for other young men and women to pursue meaningful careers in the Water Treatment Plant sector, strengthening both community and industry.
